  Theodore M. Andersson was professor of German and Scandinavian at Harvard from 1960 to 1975, at Stanford from 1975 to 1995, and at Indiana University from 1995 to 2000. His teaching and publications were in the field of early Germanic literature, with a special emphasis on the Icelandic sagas. He is retired and lives in Palo Alto, California.   Kristinn E. Andrésson (1901-1973) was an Icelandic literary scholar, publisher, and socialist parliamentarian.   Kristín Aðalsteinsdóttir is a Professor and former Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Akureyri in Iceland. Her recent publications relate to these issues. Her emphasis as a university teacher has been special educational needs and counseling. She is currently writing a book on learning in adulthood.   P. A. (Trish) Baer is an Interdisciplinary PhD candidate at the University of Victoria. Trish is examining the transmission and reception of illustrations of Old Norse gods and heroes in manuscripts and early print sources. Her dissertation is focused on illustrations of Snorri’s Edda in the Icelandic paper manuscripts NKS 1867 4to and SÁM 66 from 1760 and 1765, as well as illustrations of Heimskringla by Norwegian artists in the first and second editions of Snorre Sturlason Kongesagaer from 1899 and 1900. As part of her dissertation, she is also designing a prototype of a digital image repository that will incorporate Web 2.0 principles to facilitate scholarly research and enable user participation.   Santiago Barreiro is an  assistant researcher at the Area of Ancient and Medieval History at the IMHICIHU-CONICET and a lecturer in the MA program of Medieval Studies at the University of Buenos Aires. He holds a PhD in Medieval History from the University of Buenos Aires and an MA in Medieval Icelandic Studies from the University of Iceland. His research focuses on the social history of medieval Iceland as seen through its literary sources.   Colleen Batey, MIFA, FSA, has been Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Glasgow since 2002 and Finds Research Manager for the Archaeological Institute of Iceland in Reykjavík. She has excavated Viking and Late Norse sites in Northern Scotland, Orkney and Shetland and Iceland. She was a co-ordinator of the Smithsonian Institution’s Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga exhibition.   The late Peter G. Christensen submitted his study of Liv Ullmann’s Kristin Lavransdatter to Scandinavian-Canadian Studies several years ago. It was in the midst of revision when he died on September 3, 2007. The special film issue of the journal has provided an opportune moment to publish his study and to acknowledge his numerous intellectual contributions, including to this journal. As I noted in my obituary, published in the News Bulletin of the Association for the Advancement of Scandinavian Studies in Canada [available at http://www.ualberta.ca/~cins/Spring2008.indd.pdf] his “one hundred and thirty-three articles listed [in the MLA Bibliography] span not just the history of English literature, but European literature in a wide variety of languages.   Bill Holm was an independent writer, poet, and musician. The grandson of Icelandic immigrants, Holm was born in Minneota, Minnesota. He was a professor of English at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota until his retirement in 2007. The author of over 16 books, Holm’s most recent book, Windows of Brimnes: An American in Iceland (2007), offers reflections on the United States from an American living in Iceland. Holm was named McKnight Distinguished Artist of the Year in 2008, an award that recognizes excellence in the arts in Minnesota. He died on February 25, 2009.

  Ylva Lindberg is Associate Professor in Literature at Jönköping University, Sweden. Lindbergʼs research covers different fields, such as genre study and writing skills, cultural transfers between Scandinavia and the Francophone world, and, finally, learning language and literature through media. She is currently working on a larger project on Wikipedia, which focuses the argumentative writing on the discussion pages behind the articles in different languages. In a recently published book, De la belle époque à Second Life (2013), Lindberg develops a literary and linguistic perspective on virtual worlds. She is particularly interested in 19th century literature in Scandinavia and in France, though her specialization is contemporary female francophone authors and Swedish female cartoonists. Throughout her career, she has continued to work as an engineer in the civil-engineering firm Fjarhitun.
